Ragwort, in general, enjoys a fairly bad reputation.
But how deserved is it?
Certainly, anywhere there is livestock should be clear of the weed, as it can be exceptionally poisonous to cattle and horses. But in a garden or allotment setting, it has the usual advantages of any plant with a brightly coloured flower, attracting many insects, bees, butterflies and moths – so there need be no reason to worry unduly about it’s presence.
